History
The Guardsmen Militia of Yew was founded shortly after the Zog
Cabal’s failed attempt to cast the Armageddon spell. At the time Yew
was just a backwater province, a veritable no-man’s land where Lord
British’s control ended quite literally with the border of the town
center. Numerous orcish clans festered within the woods, undead
cults roamed the aptly named Lich Forest, while brigands reigned
unchallenged in Deepwood and beyond.
The increasingly dire situation did not go unnoticed by the Crown
and not before long Lord Rothermore enlisted the grizzled veteran
Damien Lumberton to set up a Militia to bring law and order into the
chaos of Yew. The first years of the Militia were plagued with peril
and bitter hardship as the newly established fighting force tried to
claw back the land from brigands, orcs, undead and all the evils
that had gripped Yew for so long.
Ultimately, the Guardsmen Militia of Yew managed to establish a
foothold and pushed back the tides of criminals and monsters from
the borders of the town. However, the success was short lived as
Minax invaded Britannia soon after, spreading chaos and destruction.
It was then that the decision was made to abandon the Badlands and
bring the Militia forth for a new life in the lands of Trammel.
With the full support of the Crown, great efforts were made to put
the Militia on a stronger foundation this time. The citadel of
Stonekeep was built in place of the previously meagre headquarters,
serving as a bastion of order and loyalist strength. Although the
Militia had already become a formidable fighting force, it was the
construction of Stonekeep that sealed its military dominance once
and for all. Over the coming decades the Guardsmen Militia managed
to eliminate the orcish and undead threats almost entirely, with the
few remaining creatures hiding in only the deepest and darkest
reaches of woods.
Nowadays, The Guardsmen Militia continues to prosper. Yew is no
longer a disjointed town on the outer verge of the civilised world
but rather an industrial center of Britannia. The Militia itself has
become the dominant force in the North and stands as the stalwart
guardian of the Crown’s interests in the various political disputes
that erupt across the lands.
