Career
The life of the guardsman is not an easy one. Overworked, underpaid
and in constant danger of a painful death, only a fool would join up
if they wanted comfort and material wealth. Nonetheless, there is
often little chance of anything better for the average peasant that
is recruited, and militia life has its own unique set of advantages.
These perks become more and more evident as recruits progress
through the ranks, gaining recognition and glory, but also more
important responsibilities.
