Set up a recruitment stall at one of the 'hot spots' and man it for 45 minutes spreading banners and the word of the militia around the area. (May be done alone or with a group)

I did this today - Went to Britain, as its probably the busiest place nowadays. Ah started by putting afew banners down with books o'course. Then set up me Stall and began to Yell at the people around me. I got some acknowledgement.. but not the best.

Run a 'grand champions tournament' for guardsmen and warriors alike. (Invite greens and oranges. At least 15 people must attend)

This was ran tonight. Id advertised pretty well over the space of a week and we had a rather good turnout. I had the men line up then breifed them about the goings on of the forthcoming tournament. Once done, i ordered whoever was participating to form a colum behind me so i could easily take their names for the contest. This didnt take long and the following people took part.

Nathaniel Hawk------Nathaniel Hawk
Van Cocidius------------------------------Nathaniel Hawk
------------------------------------------William Smit
Korgane Wolfe
William Smit---------William Smit------------------------------Nathaniel Hawk

Phil Lynx
Sineal Wwalker------Sineal Walker
-----------------------------------------Sineal Walker--------Sineal Walker
Tommy Nottinbury------------------------Zorg La Terreur
Zorg La Terreur------Zorg La Terreur

Gauvain
Kevin Longshot-------Kevin Longshot
-----------------------------------------Kevin longshot
Robert Tripps----------------------------Robert Tripps--------Robert Tripps
Kevin Sinclair--------Robert Tripps

Thats how everything panned out. In the end i had the final three contestants fight eachother once, with the overall winning being the one with the most Wins. Which turned out to be Corporal Sineal Walker.

Congratulations to him, and to everyone who took part. It was a grand tournament, And had some fantastic fights. Expecially the Sineal v Zorg La Terreur scrap, which ended up with them in no armour and not allowed to use fancies! A Fantastic fight i think anyone would agree.

After the tournament was finished, i held a FREE for All. Everyone gathered into the empty arena and battled againt whoever else took part. Kevin Sinclair came out on top of this, with Nathaniel Hawk coming second respectivley.

Lead a patrol to a location of difficulty (Blood, Tokuno, Destard etc) and return with over 35,000 crowns.

Aye, This was me next task. Id previously attempted this three times before now and, well, i think its save ter say they went tits up! But not this time! oh no! Before calling for a line up i thought of where id been going wrong before. Two trips to the Blood dungeon resulted in us being buggered by either a golden Blood elemental or one of them Daemon things. Meanwhile my attempt to complete it in Destard was pitiful. So i thought sod it, ill try somewhere ive never tried before - "a stab in the dark" one might say. I called a line up and only Jacob Bannon and Annwyn Brown arrived. I also recieved a pigeon that Kratos Blizzard would join us later so in the end it wasnt a bad turn out.

We set off for the moongate on a force march. Once there, we stepped in and appeared at Tokuno - Homare Jima. We then headed south through the wood, across the road and arrived at the Mountain wall. Patrolling the wall were Yotsumo Warriors, I looked to Jacob and decided this was it! This is where this pain in the arse task would be completed! We faught like brutes and healed like.. well.. healers! the warriors hit like Ogres but with our skills and techniques we managed to soldier on, killing many.

Making our way around the mountain we came to a Mine entrance. We left bandages outside just incase we got into trouble inside (At this point we didnt know what was inside). We drank afew Black potions then ventured in. Asoon as we stepped inside we were greeted by some Earth Elementals and Dull Copper elementals. These were quickly disposed off and we trecked through the caves. It wasnt long before we encountered more of these warriors. This time it was hardly patrols of them we encountered, more like friggin armies of the buggers. We managed to find a good defensive position inside the caves at the back of a long tunnel. Managing to fight them one on one for a fairly decent amount of time, Eventually Kratos arrived and started to wade in! Before long we'd downd 40? 50 of these "warriors" and were exhausted. We managed to loot up the bodies and before the next wave of warriors could get to us, we made a run for it to the exit. On reaching the cave mouth, i issued a force march back to StoneKeep and the men to Line up once there.

Once there, the men lined up and i spoke to them. I thanked them for their fantastic efforts and especialy their healing. It really was top draw! I saluted them then dismissed them as they were physically knackered.

-Organise two combat training sessions with our allies from Britain. (At least 10 people must attend each.)

I know im getting old, but it seems like this promotion lark is taking fer ever! I see young whipper snappers gettin promoted faster than waywatchers and markswomen conseve! but ah suppose thats why.. I am getting old.. so i should just get on with it instead of moaning..

I held my first of two Combat trainings this eve. Though, i had to ask Skara Brae as Britain are like female dwarves! Hard to get hold of! The session involved the many techniques and arts of "Attacking a Fort". Granted it wasnt exactly a stone keep but the idea was there. I organised the 12 Attendee's into 4 groups of 3. The idea being there would always be a team defending and attacking, whilst the other two took note and decided on their tactics.

It proved to be rather a good session. I let each team defend and attack to get a rough idea of who was decent at what. Though i was paying more attention to the attacking part of the session. I think it ended 3-1 to the attackers. So training wasnt really needed as it proved their skills seemed to be good enough!

Once that was over, i split the four teams into two teams of six! One team was to defend a shield which was a "mighty relic" and to defend a building with it inside. The other team, their task was simple, to slaughter the defenders and escape with the relic (Shield). This epic Battle went on for a good amount of time. At first, some very good skirmishing tactics were used by the attackers, but also some good Healing from the defending team to counter-act that. I had to call Cease in the end as time was getting on and Mrs Tenne needed the men for her event.

I had the men line up and handed over the line to Corporal Tenne.

Next Session shall be on Defending on open ground.

In light of the recent shipwrecking on the jungle island. Lead three survival courses for all the ranks in three different extreme climates.
(Desert, Swamp, Jungle, Snow etc At least five guardsmen must attend each one)

1# COLD WEATHER SURVIVAL

Tonight i started my three part survival course; The chosen climates are as follows. Artic (tonight) Desert (Next week) and Jungle survival (near future).

I picked three topics to concentrate on-
1 - Keeping warm.
2 - Catching Food.
3 - Making shelter.

When the men were lined up i informed them of what the lesson would entail then proceeded to ask afew questions to know if any of them had any basic knowledge. The good news was that they did, which is a bonus i suppose. Around ten minutes past eight, we headed for the forest (Ive lost the keys to my ship so we were unable to visit the artic isle). After afew minutes of wandering i stumbled across a small iced over pond. With one of my chosen topics "Catching food" i thought it would be a good idea to show the men a neat trick in howto catch fish. What i did was simple. Broke a branch from a nearby Tree, and attached some thread to it with a hook on the the end. I stuck a worm on the hook and had a trainee make a small hole in the ice for me to decend the hook with the worm attached. Once it was all in place, i covered the hole with a small thin layer of snow and left a black potion there as a marker; so we knew where we could find it. I then moved away from the pond and began to talk about "Keeping Warm".

Afew guards had a fair idea on the best way to keep warm in severly cold weather. We agreed that many thin layers would be the better option if the weather kept changing,as you'd be able to remove layers easier if it began to get warmer but Thicker hide and fur would be the best bet for all-out blizzards and snow storms. We also discussed the best way to light a fire, which was a testing subject, and the best way to start a fire would be to find two peices of flint or stones, strike them against eachother onto an item of clothing, starting a small flame, then add more flamable items onto it. Though in fairness the men had some other very good ideas on this subject too.

The last subject proved to be a treat indeed. I ordered the men to construct a small shelter out of anything they could find. The main points i was looking for was, Would it keep you out of the artic wind? Would the walls stay up? Would it be warm enough? and would it be practicle.
Some good structures were made but the best would have to be young Darts concept. He dag into the snow forming a hollow "burrow", packed the walls with hide and fur, then covered the whole thing with snow so it really was like a burrow or a den. I was very impressed, Not just with that but the general effort by all.

Once id scored there shelters, we went back to the ice over pond to see if we'd been successful in catching anything. I asked Fraser to stand ready by my side and club whatever/if-ever i caught anything. Scooping the snow away i found the branch and becan to reel in the line, It was heavy so something was on the other end. As the line got shorter a fish lept out of the hole and with one swoop, Fraser flatternd it like a pancake. So that was that! A simple and easy way to catch fish !!

I then dismissed the men and thanked them for their time.

session two - The Desert.

Tonight i held the second part of my three survival sessions. At 8pm i had the men line up at the crossroad just outside of stonekeep. Here i breifed them where we would be going and what topics would be discussed.

The Topics were;
Water
Heat
Finding food
Shelter

After the briefing i ordered the men to force march to the compassion desert. I knew this march would be long but it would also get there muscles warmed up for the treck through the sand! Once we all arrived there, i issued the men with numerous flasks filled with water and began my lesson.

Water is VITALLY important when entering the desert. Whilst the sun is constantly shining down onto you, your body sweats trying to keep itself cool. So the need to keep filling yourself full of water is great. It would only take afew hours without water in the desert before you start to feel tired, thirsty and your mind starts to play tricks with you. So i gave the men the flasks and we started our treck through the sand.

We were met with MANY of the deserts highest populated inhabitants, The giant Scorpian. This things, though not the strongest, nor the most difficult foe to down are a good source of meat. The best way to slay them is to hack at their legs and then sent a sharpe object down through its skull. Though be weiry of its tail it has a hook like vang at the tip of it and inside is highly poisonous venom! - Once we slayed a fair few of them we trapsed onward.

The topic of convosation moved onto Shelter. During nightime in the desert, the temperature drops dramatically, and it is often the case that men freeze to death during these dips in temperature. As there is no natural shelter in the desert (And pee'ing into sand and making sand blocks is out of the question - Blad) the BEST way to keep yourself warm during the night is to find some sort of animal/creature to slay and sleep within its innerds. Disgusting as it may sound, this is survival and you have to do what you have to do to stay alive.

With the heat soaring higher and higher the next topic was on keeping cool. Head wear is a good place to start. Covering your head with only eye slots keeps your head cool and also stops sand getting into your mouth and eyes. Light rags and robes with sandles are the ideal clothing for desert survival. Them being light weight, they dont require as much effort to carry and therefore less sweat is produced.

Having walked thorugh the desert for awhile now and having lots of discussions, we opted to leave and head back to Stone Keep, I dismissed the men and thanked them for their time.

Session 3 - The Jungle.

Tonight saw my third and final survival session, set in the jungle this proved to be a real pain in the arse. Even making our way there proved this! let alone when we actually got there!

Id sent pigeons out to the men to meet me at the moongate in Yew for 9:15. Reason being, id also asked Skara Brae if they wanted to attend and thought id save their legs by meeting them at the gate.

So the men started to gather and i breifed them about what was going to happen tonight. Once all was said, we marched through the moongate and into Moonglow, heading north we trudged through the hedge like maze thing in the centre and used the teleporter to the papua hole-thing.. That popped us out in a shop in papua and i had the men line up outside.

Whilst waiting for stragglers i briefed the men on what topics we were going to learn about tonight. They would be - Fire, Food, Shelter and Water.
First we needed to find our way deep into the jungle to really get a feel for what it was like. This took some time, longer than expected as i forgot that the jungle looks the ruddy same no-matter which part yer in; Though finally we reached a suitable location and started to natter about the topics.

On my previous two sessions i mainly just blabbered to the men and they seemed to lose concentration after awhile. So tonight i took a different approach, i asked them questions hoping i could correct them if they were wrong, and truthfully.. i didnt really have the need too.
I started by asking what kind of animals would be suitable as a food source. I was met with some good replies, Tropical Birds, Boba's (sorry Sineal) Giant Snakes! and leafs/plants/shrubs. These are good sources for food, easily obtainable as they are in abundance in the jungle, But as Fraser brilliantly pointed out, Some shrubs are poisonous so be warey of which ones to pick and eat! - I was pleased with this and quickly moved onto the next topic.

Fire.. Something we must try to produce when in a survival situation. Fire keeps you warm, boils foreign water, cooks your meat and food. Its a vital thing to have. But once again the men knew exactly what i was going to ask them "whats the best way to produce fire" and they immidiately came back with "Flint and dry wood shavings/leafs sah!". Though, Smit did try and palm me off with a bomb.. but that wasnt what i was looking for. Again! I was impressed!

Shelter was the next topic of convosation, I asked the men what kind of shelter we would need if in a situation and mostly all agree's that you would need one with a roof, Keeping rain and Insects out. Joseph mentioned a Cone shaped shelter which got my attention. I then asked, what would you have inside your shelter. Fire! someone shouted and i immediately told him "Wrong!". fire although keeping you warm, would attract flyin bugs and creepy crawlies, which you Do-not want in your bunk/bedroll. To which someone replied, you should have yer bedroll lifted off the ground so that Creepie Crawlies cannot get at you. - Brilliant!

And Finally WATER! I asked the men what is the best way to find water in the jungle. I had afew dodgy remarks, like in yer flask! or in Vines! But the answer i was looking for was in the soil.. as daft as it might sound. When looking for water, always check the soil beneath you, if the soil is moist that means there is water near by because its seeping through the soil into the roots of plants. So follow the soil untill it gets boggy, swamp like OR your met with a whacking great river like we were.
Trying to catch the men off guard.. i asked them what should be done with the water once carried from the water? and once again they replied with the correct answer- Boil it untill its purified then drink it. The need for this? It gets rid of all the nasty things in the water and also gets rid of evil spirits. *nods* - BRILLIANT!

After that i devided the men into two teams of Four. One team was to be a group of stranded guardsmen and the other was to be a group of savages!

http://i40.tinypic.com/2napq9g.jpg
__________________________________________________ _______________________________________
]Hold a combat training excerise with 8 or more people involved.[/I]

Once done, I told the men they were to build a small fort some way from eachother out of wood and anything else they could find. These were to be their Base Camps. Within the base camp was a relic. In the Savages case, a small urn with the ashes of there cheif! IN the guardsmens, the deceased body of their devote officer, who died on the way to the island.

The savages plan was simple, They are hungry and need food, the Officers corpse is just what they need! The Guardsmens? To rid the island of these savage scum and bury their officer with dignity.

The rules were as follows -
The Tubs (Relics) were to be shown at ALL times.
No-one could re-enter the fight.
Once one team has all been knocked the other team wins.

Once the base camps were complete, i issued the order "BEGIN!" and the savages came bounding over the hill and smacked straight into the Guardsmens Base. Incharge of the guardsmen was Lance Corporal Smit, who headed the line and called the orders. Doing this verywell he managed to hold off the Savage attack and smack each one of them down to the ground! without a single loss! Brilliant! Once the losers were helped up i asked them to swap the robes over with the opposite team.

This time the savages would be the guardsmen and the guardsmen would be the savages! Once again i gave time to rebuild the bases and briefed them on afew tactics i.e Skirmishes and FORM. Then i told them to Begin again. This time the new savages were well met with the force of the new guardsmen. The Guardsmen held off the first attack with a good use of the Form order. Though their line was broken within minutes and all hell broke loose. Chasing eachother down like headless chickens the new savages slowly began to take the lead, knocking two guardsmen to the ground using team work and brilliant healing. It wasnt long untill the rest of the guardsmen were on the floor and it was a total win for the new Savages! 2-0 to Smits team!

http://i44.tinypic.com/9q8dc9.jpg

I congratulated him on his fine leadership and then asked all the remainding men to gather inside the guardsmens base for a free for all, ofwhich Fraser won!

I then dismissed the men and thanks Skara for attending. (good folk)
