We had all just arrived back at StoneKeep after the Olympic event for that evening after a 15min break to restock our supplies and have a rest Corporal Walker lined us all up. Corporal Walker asked if i had ever lead a patrol and was it out of lack of opportunity or lack of interest. Lack of opportunity I replied, which i knew what was coming next. ''Well might as well push her in at the Deep End, Demure'' and with this he 'handed me the line'.
Now I know GuardsMen are suppose to not show fear, but to be faced with 8 militia in a line, all waiting for your next command and to top it all Captain Bladias Dart being one of those 8 you can imagine my state. Anyway I took a big gulp swallowed my fear and nerves and shouted out my first commands and I can tell you it felt pretty good. First of all I wanted and needed to show them I meant business, I knew I had to get them all listening to me and what makes it easy is they are all well trained. So I practiced a few parade comands and had them do them again if i wasnt satisfied with there speed and precision.
I really wanted to have them practice their formations in battle and cross healing so I decided to split them into two teams and head off to where Annwyn had reported seeing Liches invading near the south road. Now I am notorius at the moment for my map reading or should I say lack of it so I did unfortunately take us down the wrong road and sometimes in the wrong direction, but my patrol set me right and backed me up.
We had no fatal casualities on this patrol and the wounded were just a few cuts and bruises, I did get a little singed in the buttocks by one nasty liche. But all in all a good patrol, they all preformed really well and did everything I ordered them too. And were very kind seeing as it was my first Patrol in charge.
