- Gather gold bars to become your golden arms.
Twas! - As they say here in Yew, "A Damn foine Day". The sun was shining off my armour as it usually does but this time more stunningly!
With my tasks finally issued to me i can finally start my long awaited mission, to become a Marksman!
I decided to get my golden bars gathered first, as after all.. Those golden arms are what one first see's on an approaching Marksman! So i gathered my sandwiches and tipped some warm tea into my flask, then set off to Minoc land of.. well.. Dwarfs i suppose. Not that i was looking for dwarfs that is, no no! I was looking for a miner or indeed a merchant who could either sell me or mine me some of these "golden bars".
I thought it would be easy.. you know.. finding a miner in Minoc, But oh no! It seems they hide from people these days. Then again its not suprising really with people like Vesper and Cove living nextdoor to you. It took me rather awhile to find someone who even resembles a miner. I asked everywhere; the bank, the people in the streets, even an armourer.. But alas i finally found one! We bargained for afew minutes and i managed to drop his asking price by about 50 crowns which was a great task on its own! He ventured back to the Bank and then returned with a pile of Golden bricks in a pack, Twas rather heavy so i paid a small child to carry it back for me. He was tipped generously with a copper shilling once we arrived back in StoneKeep.

Today! My mission was to capture and try to tame five timber Wolves! Or Hounds as they are called within the Marksmen. I thought i might struggle on my own so i called upon the help of Miss Vias to assist me. We set off east from StoneKeep into the forest. Finding absolutely NOTHING for a long time we nearly gave up! But being Soldiers we.. "Soldiered" on.. *chuckles as he writes it* and finding ourselves close to the Nihon bridge, we finally caught eye of a Wolf drinking from the river. We got very close to it within touching distance when it turned to us and began to growl. I myself began to panic, but i had Atheratii behind me incase things got out of hand. I slowly walked up to the Wolf and placed my hand on his head and began to stroke it.. Before long the wolf stopped growling and became quite peaceful. I fed it some cut meat and it started to run, then stop, then run abit more, then stop, asif wanting me to follow it. We did so, and it lead us to the rest of its pack. Atheratii told me to use the same technique on the other wolves. I did, and it worked! now i have a whole Army of wolves! or a "Pack" as their known!.

A rather delayed and crinkely report is pinned to this thread.
Today i led a heroic patrol to slay a pheonix! Twas apart of my Marksman tasks so it needed to be a roaring success.
I had the men line up in StoneKeep in fully repaired uniform and with all there kit 100%. Guardsmen should look their best on all occasions.. Father told me that before i left Britain for Yew. Anyways!
Once the men had been briefed and told of our tactics once we engaged the pheonix, We force marched to the moongate and ventured through to Chaos. We were greeted unsuprisingly by some Harpies and Gargoyles. These were battered to a pulp with ease and as we looted them we pressed on South West through the caverns and caves into the abandoned city. Approaching this we were attacked by a Dragon and ten or so hell hounds! We opted to slay the hounds first then set ourselves onto the Dragon, downing it with somewhat ease. After looting gathered ourselves and pressed on, moving more westward still we turned a corner and spotted a Succubus gnawing on a fallen souls corpse. With it spotting us we draw swords and engaged it in close quarter combat. Its screeching was deafening and is magic was brutal, Flames licked high and balls of fire flew from itself, Though we carried on aiming our blows at its gutt and its head. Within a good few minutes it was down and deceased. Without further adoo, we had to move on though and slay the Pheonix, And that we did. Moving West again it became alot warmer and we needed to drink more as it did so. Suddendly it became so warm it was un-bareable, Tripps just happend to look skyward as spotted a bird made of fire fly rapidly over us. I instinctly shot an arrow at it (Porbably not the best thing to do). The arrow hit its wing and the Pheonix swoopt in and engaged us! The heat was so intense i noticed my coifs links began to warm up! I through it off and started to hammer arrows into the Bird! The others bashed and stabbed at it there swords driving into the birds flames asif through butter. We kept at it, retreating every so often when the heat got too much for us, then once gathering ourselfs, Smashed back into the bird firing arrows and bolts into it, whilst the others smahed it with maces and swords. Eventually the bird was that overwelmed we managed to slay it with a Bolt through the skull. this done, i put on a glove and plucked a feather from its Tail - placed into into a folded cloth and put it into my pack. After looting it i ordered a force march back to the gate and through to Yew gate. The men lined up their, and i congratulated them on their success. Just over ten thousand coins were collected, ofwhich i donated five thousand to the church and the rest went to the miltia funds.

Tonight, i Hopefully completed my marksman tasks!
My fourth task was to hold a training session involving something to do with the marksman, and well the marksmen are expert Fort builders! So thats what i did. Held a session on fort building.
The men lined up at 8pm sharp, and i told them what was install for them. The idea was basic.. We were to start with just a bog standard fort; just afew crates in a square, then add to it what we deemed nessicary.
So i asked William Smit to start, and he began by building a cresent shaped structure along-side the tavern, a good idea in fairness. The stone of the tavern was a good support for the crates we placed around it. I then asked the others to join in and they instinctively started to stack up crates. This made sturdy walls from which within archers could easily fire through peep holes at the on-coming enemy. Then they began to add hides to the roofs. Hides are thick and leathery therefore hard to penetrade by arrows and bolts and other light missiles.
Once the initial design was constructed, we thought about the enemy and how they would approach the fort. We agreed on a frontle assault, resulting in them taring down bits of the construction as they got closer to it. With this inmind, we began to think of ways to obstruct them in there progress. We decided to place MASSES of small tables around the fort in order to stim their assault, and to prove it worked, we ran a short roleplay excercise.
I had John Wallace, Fraser and Ertwink inside the fort, whilst Smit and I were the attackers. It worked well, we were unable to penetrate there defences.. *nods* Althought, after a few trys we did.. so either we managed to build the single greatest fort ever constructed.. or.. it was just luck. Anyways, After that i praised the men for their work and dismissed them... Once they'd dismantled it ofcourse.

My Final Task was to slay a Dragon on my own under the watchful eyes of an officer and a Marksman.
I asked Sergeant Wilkes, and Marksman Sands to attend..
