"BLOWING UP ORCS"
A. PATROL SIZE AND COMPOSITION:
Lluc Vilnhim, Rookie Waywatcher

B. OBJECTIVE:
To, using nothing but 2000 gold crowns worth of explosives and bows, fresh from a merchant's shelf, venture into the Orc caves and fell an Orc Brute.
C. DATE OF DEPARTURE AND RETURN:
Sunday November 7th
D. ROUTES THERE AND BACK:
We first split up and went shopping all around Yew, gathered back up in Stonekeep, and then trekked south to the Orc Caves.
E. RESULTS OF ENCOUNTERS:
As a means for some rather unconventional training Captain Dart ordered us all to, using the two thousand gold crowns he provided, go and acquire as many explosives and bows as we would need (but use nothing but those explosives or bows), and then go hunting for orcs. There were originally five of us, so the gold was split five ways, and we then spread out and went shopping to get the items needed. I was very lucky, and was able to haggle with a shop keeper in Luna and got away with over two hundred and sixty explosive potions, while still being left with change. Once we were all shopped out and prepared we returned to Stonekeep.
This was where the expedition suffered a bit of a loss when Trainee Matt Elkbern decided that, being Covian, he was in the wrong army, and needed to urgent desert (with 20% of our supplies for the expedition, no less). We had a little "talk" with him, and Leo Madsen ended up escorting him to Cove to make sure that he had a safe transfer. Reinforced by Killian the four of us that then remained, having already lost the supplies of two of the original members of the squad, set out to find ourselves an Orc Brute.
We trekked south from Stonekeep, following the road at first and then steering off into the forest going further south into the valley and eventually into the Orc Caves. Due to our limited supplies we did our best to avoid combat as much as we could. Once inside the cave this became harder, and we did find ourselves engaged in combat with large numbers of orcs quite soon. The besiegers helped keep them busy while Eveline fired at them with her bow and I provided further support with explosives, from a safe distance. We kept working our way further and further into the cave, still moving as quickly as we could to avoid unnecessary waste of our limited resources. Eventually we found ourselves in the large chamber where the Orc Brutes dwelled, and once again the besiegers went to the front while we all threw everything we had at the beast, quite literally. Once the orc brute laid slain before us we were mostly out of explosives, so from there on we simply ran to make it out alive.
F. CONCLUSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS:
Explosives may be fun, but it really is quite nice to have regular weapons too sometimes. However, we did successfully down the orc brute, and with no casualties or serious injuries.
