As this task was a general part of my average day of work, I got to it straight away. I also suffered the usual questions of "What are you doing?", when I am always, as usual, hacking axes into trees. There's always one!

I chopped up quite a few logs, I did not count. I know it was more than two hundred and fifty, though. I gave the boards that I chopped to Mr. Madsen. I had to go back and retrieve them once, as it slipped my mind that this task requests boards and not simply logs.

Nothing was going on. Stonekeep was quiet. I figured we could always use some logs. Went down the road and started chopping. Brung in 260 logs. Ian, with his kindness helped me bring the logs to the Workshop.

This where a mighty hard task!! I saw i'd be needing alot of boards so i decided to find the biggest tree i could.
Now i don't claim to be the best lumberjack, but i sized this tree up good and proper, with one swing of my axe i felled it.
It must of been fifty foot tall, with a mighty crash it landed, i then proceeded to cut it up into smaller logs.
Once done with that i sawwed em up all nice and neat and stored em in the chests!

Morning of the 65th day in the militia.

Not much of a lumberjack.

Two-hundred and fifty logs chopped, carried to the saw and had cut into boards by the lumberjacks.

As it was morning shift, there was no one to give the logs to. They can be found in the craftsmen's boards chest.

For the Attention of __________

Gathering wood or forming items out of them such as skilled craftsmen would do has never been the strong point of Besiegers but I have attempted to try and break this ghastly rummer by crafting boards, out of logs!

Now, swinging an axe has never really been a foray I have been part of much since leaving the esteemed rank of, Trainee, so it took a little bit of getting used too, though after massacring a few trees that I am sure were causing a menace to Yew and all passers bye I managed to get enough logs for my attempt.

Again, the using of fine carpenters tools has never been part of basic training, nor advanced training though I dove into it like I would dive into a devil.. made of wood.

After much struggling with my splintery foe I managed to gain it's precious log bounty.

+ 50 Copper for a good report

Sigurdr Geirsson
25-02-2011, 10:00 PM
Good evening, sir!

I am writing this invoice at the behest of a senior guardsman, whose name I unfortunately did not quite catch. My apologies, I do not mean to offend.

Let me start with a little background. My name is Sigurdr, the son of Geirr, and it is only yesterday I arrived in these parts of Yew. Born and raised in the woods far towards Minoc from Yew, it was my plan to take what savings I had and journey towards lands unseen by me, for I had only heard tales of the magnificant cities of Britain and Trinsic.

However, fate would lead me to pass through the keep of the guardsmen, and what terrible tales did I hear of there! Talk of decapitated corpses, raving lunatics, folk infected with..the plague? These tales brought shivers through my spine and sweat to my brow, and though I've hunted with bow and arrow, I am certain I am no match for the wytchcraft-possessed madmen I learned of. I dared not proceed on my way, and sold a large amount of the arrows I had crafted for my journey to one of the brave guardsmen. After all, who else would protect us from the lunatics. Weary from the day's travels, I took the gold pieces the guard paid for the arrows, and walked towards the town of Yew, where I bought myself some leather armour, as my clothes and cloak suddendly seemed quite..inadequate. Luckily, one of the residents let me stay for the night in exchange of some gold pieces.

Today, I woke up feeling refreshed in the body, but still feeling the grip of terror in my heart. What chance would I have of reaching Trinsic, if travelers certainly much more experienced than I were left on the side of the road, their bodies a mangled, bloody horror. I know I do not have the courageous heart of a guardsman, nor a skilled master of crafts, but I surely can swing an axe well enough to hit a tree. Thus, having learned of the guards' need of lumber, I set off in the dense forests of Yew.

I made good progress, and was my mind floated to places far and away, consumed by the work. In my foolishness, unacceptable for somebody as accustomed to the forestland as I thought I was, I drifted southward, to the south of the keep as I would later learn. My work was quite abruptly interrupted with the mighty roar of two deformed, gigantic mouths of an ettin. For the smallest amount of time, I wondered if I should reach for my bow. However, fear gripped my soul and I turned to run. I made it not ten steps, before I fell on a stone and rolled behind some large tree roots and foliage. Luckily, the ettin seemed simple-minded and with poor senses, for it did not find me where I hid.

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/3193/lumberjacking01.jpg

From my, ahem.. vantage point, I also observed several orcs, some clad in mere rags, others in ringmail with large double-bearded axes in hand, pass through the area. I was definately warned for a reason.

After laying low for a while, I crawled away and started again, having had to leave the lumber to the foul creatures. I headed back north, where I knew Yew and the keep would lie. I stayed alert, and it was to be for the best, for I soon encountered one of the vile, snarling madmen the guards had warned me about.

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/2418/lumberjacking02.jpg

Again, I hid in the forest, careful to not attract the attention of this robed lunatic. Granted, he did not wield a weapon of war, but nevertheless I did not wish to take my chances of confronting him. Who knows what curses he could have put on me. I quietly slipped away through the trees, away and closer to the keep, which I could by now see in the horizon. By now, I felt I had gathered enough lumber to make plenty of goods from, and was burdened down with the weight, having to lug the pile of wood behind me as I treaded further. I was glad to have reached the relative safety of the keep, where I encountered a few guardsmen and one other civilian. Once again, I overheard talk of dead bodies on the roads - thankfully, I had yet to encounter one in person, but the rumour made me uneasy nonetheless.

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/6377/lumberjacking03.jpg

I asked the senior guardsman where I should put the wood, and he instructed me to follow one of the lower ranked guardsmen into one of the buildings. This person, whose name I unfortunately did not catch, was very helpful and carried half of the wood, of which I am very grateful.

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/1410/lumberjacking04.jpg

I had learned that the value of gold was dwindling in these parts, and as it seems I might be spending some more time around here, I believe it wise to ask for payment in silver if possible, good sir. The senior guard instructed me to write this invoice for the wood, which came out to slightly over seven hundred boards. Perhaps, in some time, I will be skilled enough to turn some of those boards to something more useful.

- The invoice is very roughly signed with two letters, S and G.
