Promotion Guidelines - Updated December 2009
Please note: Promotions are at the discretion of Command. The best way to ensure a promotion is to remain active and true to the Militia and its concept and getting yourself noticed via reports, tasks and activity. Completion of these requirements and your issued tasks does not under any circumstances guarantee you promotion.
If you feel you are due a promotion please speak to a member of Command.

Promotions
A guardsman is promoted when they demonstrate that they are fit to serve at a higher rank. To do this they must catch the eyes of their superiors through good service. This might be achieved through long and loyal service, through excellence in discipline, in trainings and patrols or in knowledge of the Militia. However a guardsman might also be praised for initiative in leadership, recruiting, reporting, creativity and for providing guidance for more junior guardsmen.
Junior Ranks
Promotion through the junior ranks is rapid; a Trainee need only show a willingness to work hard, to learn and to follow orders. A Footman must continue in this vein, but to be promoted to Rookie Guard they must show the maturity to be trusted with power over the junior ranks. Once a Footman has proven themselves they will be set a Promotion Task. Once this is completed they will receive the new rank which is their just reward. Such Promotion Tasks will then we be awarded before all further promotions
Senior Ranks
Senior guardsmen are expected to polish their skills to the highest level. An accepted Guard has proven they will continually rise to the standards expected of a guardsman and Veteran guard has gained the vast experience needed to serve as a wisehead for the younger guardsmen around them.
In the past Corporals and Sergeants have served as leaders in the Militia, yet now such positions are available to all guardsmen, regardless of whether they seek command. To achieve these ranks would be no small feat. Any guardsmen who does so is deserving of the greatest respect. They have shown themselves to be steadfast, loyal, knowledgeable, skillful and capable of passing their skills on to future guardsmen.
Recommendations
A guardsman is judged not just by their officers, but by their peers. It matters not just whether a guardsmen impresses a Captain or a Leftenant, but whether their fellow guardsmen recognise in them the ability to serve at a higher level. It is for this reason that all guardsmen are invited to recommend their juniors, seniors and peers for promotion.
Demotions
From time to time it may be necessary to demote a guardsman. If a guardsman shows indiscipline and ignorance or reveals themselves to be a criminal or a sinner, that guardsman will soon find themselves at a lower rank. However though a guardsman may be demoted, all their good service is not forgotten. Depending upon the severity of their failings, a guardsman may quickly prove themselves worthy of their former rank.
