The Corsairs

With it becoming more and more apparent that Yew requires an active naval force, the Guard have commissioned the establishment of a marine reserve within our ranks.
These reserves will take on the name of the Corsairs but will however not function as a division might.
The Corsairs shall be regular guardsmen, who do however have specific duties relating to the protection of Yewish coastline and colonial territories.

Guardsmen should be aware that joining the ranks of the marine reserve entitles them to no special treatment and no particular privileges other than the following:

Access to Yewish Naval assets at the discretion of Kros Vandor and Command.
Blue bandana to be worn instead of a coif.
Pike to be armed as a parade weapon instead of a halberd.

Divisional guardsmen may not join the Corsairs and you are only eligible for Corsair selection at the rank of Rookie or above.

The Corsair uniform is limited to the same uniform used by non-divisional guardsmen, however they may use a blue bandana instead of a coif.

It should be noted that the re-establishment of The Corsairs is a temporary measure and has only been enacted whilst Command considers better methods of protecting its coastline and its territories from slavers, pirates and invaders.

Corsair Mission

The Corsairs hold a number of duties afforded to them not just by the Guardsmen but by The Yewish Navy and the State of Yew.

The Corsair mission statement states that the Corsair division is bound to not only uphold its duties as the Yewish Marine Reserve but also to man and maintain the Yewish fleet.

Marine duties include the following amongst others:

Colonial protection
Colonial maintenance
Troop transport
Beach landings
Bridge maintenance and fortification
Customs (sea and land)
Sailing instruction

Naval duties include the following amongst others:

Coastal patrol
Port protection
Passenger transport
Merchant transport
Merchant escort
Colonial transport
Colonial escort
Colonial supply
