It was a shame that after three lower ranks had expressed their interest in joining the heavy infantry division, only a single one bothered to turn up at the time I had informed them to. Nonetheless, with five fully fledged besiegers in attendance, things could have been worse.

I started with a brief warmup, setting the men to pressups, before we jogged down to the western outpost. I had decided to hone our technique for storming buildings, and outpost was good for practice. After asking for some opinions on the best way to force entry into a fortified location, I revealed that the besiegers have a specific storming procedure passed down to us from times when we had enough men to do it effectively. Now that we have had something of a resurgence, it was time to drill this method back into them. I won't detail it here, for fear of enemy spies, but I was pleased that my brothers picked up the method very quickly. We also discussed the best way to assault a staircase, something that we haven't got set in stone.

After this, we briefly tested recruit William's ability to battle liches. He fell a couple of times trying to fight them alone, but his chances improved with a few tips, and after all it's a difficult challenge for a footman these days.

Soon, the time for Longshot's gathering was loomed, and we made our way back to the keep. It was a satisfactory training session and hopefully we'll get a chance to deploy our techniques in time.
