Marksman2 - "mm yes.. let me see.. I say Trainee!"
Zelest - "I'm actually a footman, sir."
Marksman2 - "Well that's very fine and dandy, now we need you to go find you some compost."
Zelest - "Compost? Where would I find that, sir?"
Marksman - "Oh, I'm sure you'll come up with something. Run along now Tata!"
Zelest - "Ta...ta..."
So with these firm guidelines for how to gather compost I vent to visit the Abbey. The monks there are all very bright and they also run a wineyard, so they should know a thing or two about how to make a good compost. After a bit of asking around I found Bella and Andra who appearently know the most about growing.

We talked a bit and they told me what is involved in making a good compost. They had even written a book on the subject which they gave me and said I should give to the two marksmen who wanted to grow the roses to help them in the future.

For making a good compost you need more than just Fertile Dirt. Especially if growing fruit such as grapes. Or flowers such as roses or sunflowers.
Bella and I have done a lot of experimentation in the field and come up with the best mixture to make a dirt so fertile it will make vegitation grow at the mere sight of it. You will need the following:
* Fertile Dirt from stone elementals
* Dung from a horse
* Dung from a gaman
* That muckie stuff from the backside of a bog thing
* The blessing of Cullen
Mix the different ingredients into a healthy brown pulp. Add a pitcher of water for good measure. Get the muck blessed by Cullen the seer to get rid of the evil from the bog thing. The new and improved Fertile Dirt is now ready to use.

And so I set out to gather everything, with everything mixed, there turned out to be quite a lot of the stuff indeed. So perhaps it can be used for something else, since I'm sure the roses would not need all of it. I handed the barrel full of Fertile Dirt over to Aiden, together with the book on how to make good compost.

Every good plant needs good soil to grow on. For good soil, you need good dirt - and where best to get that than off an earth elemental. Due to the earth worms within their intestines, earth elementals feed off of rocks, dirt, and old, dead things, and digest it into some of the softest, richest soil you'll find anywhere around. So I took the walk of shame down to their cave lair, slit a few up and extracted the plant manure.

May the flowers grow strong and vibrant!
Sincerely,
Elaine O'Connor, Trainee.
