Rookie Order

Naval Academy

Now with the Yewish Navy finally complete we must begin training men and women to man and sail vessels.
If we are to reassert our authority as Sosaria's undisputed military power then our navy must enjoy the same supremacy as our ground troops.

Rules

You can only complete this task if you have previously been trained to sail either as a member of the Corsairs, or as part of previous sailing schemes.
You may only train a maximum of two guardsmen to sail.
Your student must post a report on their sailing training.
You must also post links to your students' reports, as well as the names of those you have trained.

A few youngins were standin about whinin bout nuthin ter do. Guardin tha keep obviously aint thrinnin enough fer em. I forced marched em ter Yew ports. Thar were began ems lessons in sailin.

Ah first taught em tha proper way ter board tha ship. Most jus run on tha plan, but is more en jus jumpin on, an walkin tha plank. Done wrong yer might find yerslef fallen off an in tha bottom of tha bay. So em slowly walked on tha boat an were began tha lessons.

Ah began tha lesson with knot tyin. Ah showed em tha proper way ter tie em anchor know and tha usefulness of tha knot. Them worked at it a few times an with some proactice em whol beh able ter do it whol. En ah showed em a jib knot an tha usefullness of tha one. Em were able ter do it fine nuff. Ah tells em tha em were some easy knots an ter practice workin em. Ahd teach em more usefull knots whan em mastered them two.

Were then moved on boat directions. Aint much sense in usin bow an stern fer front an back but em at sea seem ter do so, so ah tells em youngins tha difference. An ah tells tham wha port an starboard beh left an right. After em mastered tha four sides of tha boat were decided ter test directional navigation in open water.

Were slowly headed out tha port an inter open water. Out thar were did some basic manuvers. Ah went below an grabbed some nets fer tha youngins ter toss. Endin tha trainin on a grand note were headed inter port.

Two footmen beh eager ter learn basics in ship commands. Were looked through tha harbor fer low spots an where ter sail out from.

Once in open sea ah gave em a lesson on naviatin tha tillerman. Em learned tha sides of tha ship an how ter giver proper commands.

Once tha lesson were over both went on an gave commands ter tha tillerman and navigated tha ship.

Ah gave em a final lesson on harbor navigation an had em botha go at it. Good thin it were a fishin ship an aint one em Militia vessels as em bomped inter tha harbor shors an stoped in tha main port ally slowin tha shippin lane.

Both passed tha basic lesson on Ship commands.

After finaly getting the news that the refit had been complete on my old cutter, from some years in dry dock, I decided to take two footmen who were wandering aimlessly about to help crew the ship and teach them the basics of ship commands.

After safly clearing the harbour and a few miles out to sea we ran through the basics in ship commands and where to stand. Once the basic commands were grasped the Footmen then tried out a few manoovers which they seemed to pick up fairly quickly and after a while of tutoring them we sailded back.
