--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alexander was born in a small settlement in the highlands above Wrong. His father was the laird of the area, and Alex inherited the responsibility on his father's death. He was happy taking care of his people and thought to live his life out among them but the death of his adored young wife in childbirth broke his heart.

He couldn't bear to stay in the place where they had been happy together, so he handed the lairdship to his younger brother and wandered the world, rootless and aimless. He happened across the Guardsmen Militia and joined on an impulse.

He found a new family and new hope in the Besiegers, to whom he is unthinkingly loyal, He has a deep hatred of the Church, born of an interview with one of the Church Fathers, who said that his wife died because the Higher Being considered her unworthy to bear his son, and that as in dying her son also died, she was a murderess.

Although his wife has been dead some years he cannot imagine putting any other woman in her place, so he keeps himself to himself. When the flesh drives he secretly visits an accommodating whore in Jhelom that he met on his travels.

Looking to the future, Alexander expects to live and die in the service of the Militia, and especially in the service of the Besiegers, to whose honour and beliefs he has committed himself.
