Citizen Activities

This should in no way be considered a finalised list, as citizen activities and events are only limited by your own imagination, this list is merely designed to give you a helping hand in terms of finding something for your citizen to do.

Repairs - Whether repairing the weapons and armour of their humble guardsmen, or filling in the seemingly endless string of potholes on the Queen's Highway, citizens can always find work conducting repairs.

Buildings often incur damages during times of war or neglect and will sometimes require structural repairs to keep them from collapsing. You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Road building - The road network of Yew continually comes under attack from the local weather and mean-spirited taintlings. Help mark out new roads in the same manner as the current 'barrel paths'.

Bar work - The King's Deer can always do with someone behind the bar, serving drinks and sharing worldly wisdom with patrons. You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Trade stalls - You don't have to own a store in Yew to trade, most merchants simply make do with a crooked table, a wobbly stall and their inventory. Of course one day perhaps you'd like to own a shop but right now you can sell your wares merely by setting up a stand in a populated area and flogging your goods to anybody who's appreciative enough (or stupid enough) to buy them.

Cleaning - Hygiene is in high demand, you can always find work polishing the silverware or scrubbing the floors of buildings throughout Yew. You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Personal servants - Perhaps you can find someone willing to hire you as a personal servant or hireling, whilst you might have to degrade yourself a little just to make ends meet, at least it's money, right?

Secretaries - Perhaps there's some paperwork that could do with filing or some letters that need writing, ask someone in an important position if they have something you can do. You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Health checks - Do you have experience with human or even animal anatomy? Perhaps you can find work performing health checks, recommending or even selling treatments to the ailing (or gullible) people of Yew? You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Farming - Grow something lovely, Yew's known for its delightful produce perhaps you can be the next Farmer Joe Giles winner of 'Biggest Marrow in the North'? Create farm patches across Yew and encourage your friendly guardsmen or even your mercenaries to protect them. You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure. Alternatively perhaps you can make a few silvers on a nightshade farm and selling on the produce to a few willing shade addicts.

Exploring - There is only so much exploration the Waywatchers and the Corsairs can manage between them and sometimes regular citizens can happen upon uncharted locations or locate mythical beasts or investigate local legends.

There are still many uncharted areas within the Lost Lands, Malas, Tokuno and Ter Mur, if you're adventurous enough perhaps you can document their discoveries on the Notice Board.

Entertaining - Can you carry a tune or perhaps tell a tale? The people of Yew are easily entertained, perhaps you earn your keep by entertaining the masses.

Prostitution - If you're really that desperate for a few silvers, I'm sure someone would be willing to pay you for your services, although I expect there's a good few dirty slappers who have the market cornered.

Mercenary work - Experienced with a weapon? Someone out there will have need for a hired-thug.

Babysitting - Love children? Maybe someone somewhere will be daft enough to trust you with looking after their little sproglets for a little while. You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Pest control - Yew's vermin problem has gotten out of hand, the streets are filled with scuttling rats and mongbats, perhaps you can lend a hand? You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Tuition - Try as they might many Yewish people are still illiterate or completely ignorant of the world around them. Teach them something important today and Yew might be a better place tomorrow. You need only provide a brief report of your efforts and you'll be rewarded for sure.

Gathering resources - Yew always needs extra miners or lumberjacks. Cut some wood or mine some ore and sell it on.

Missionary work - Are you a devout Avatarian? Then perhaps you should spread the word of the Avatar in such exotic climbs as Vesper, Trinsic and Skara Brae. Perhaps you can even stem the tide of the taint in Luna and educate a few harmless neon lunatics in the ways of the Avatari.

Taxation - The guardsmen are getting a little lax in taxing the citizenry for their use of the road, perhaps you can do a better job? Remember it's 5 silver a head, whether that head belongs to a horse or person.
